During this campaign, Hack Your Style proposes to support sustainable fashion and luxury designers in Geneva.

The COVID19 crisis has amplified existing problems and created new ones. We already knew that the sector was highly competitive before this crisis.

For a designer or for a creator who is making his first collection, there are many obstacles in « normal » times.

In interviewing them, we realized that in addition to these existing problems, there were new challenges:

1. Disruptions in the supply of textile materials,
2. Production workshops requisitioned to produce fabric sanitary masks,
3. Spaces dedicated to designers in department stores that are disappearing to make room only for established brands,
4. Widespread pressure on cash flow and management of support structures,
5. The few existing solidarity collectives have been shattered,
6. The cessation of air logistics flights for several months,
7. Bankruptcies of major players with repercussions on their suppliers and subcontractors,
8. The increase in online shopping on large multinational platforms, compulsive fast fashion shopping,
9. Decrease in traffic in some stores, even after the peak of the COVID crisis19,
10. Rules of physical distance that prevent the recruitment of young graduates, apprentices and professionals in certain workshops.
11. The spectre of a sacrificed generation is already looming, when it would be absurd on every level.

In addition to the challenges that the sustainable fashion and luxury sector has faced in an already incredibly competitive industry, new difficulties have been created by the Covid-19 crisis. Attracting and retaining the best talent in this creative and culturally engaged fashion has become a complex ambition. Let’s not leave our young graduates behind. Let’s act together.
